On our way!

It's currently 7:08pm in New Plymouth, ID, our first stop on our trip to Texas, I'm inside, and I'm sweating. It's pretty intense heat in Idaho, so I think that Texas is probably going to kill me once I get there!

The ride thus far has been competely uneventful, which is good! I'd much prefer it that way. Dad drove all nine hours that it took us to get here, and I took two naps. :) I'd say it was a pretty successful leg of the trip! The majority of the ride was bloody hot, until we realized we could actually turn up the air conditioning! You live and you learn, right?!

Our first stop was New Plymouth because my uncle Fred and aunt Linda live there, and dad and I figured one less hotel saves that much more money! Plus, it's always good to see family. We were also delightfully surprised to hear that my cousin Willie, his wife Ashli, and their son Jackson were going to be joining us for dinner as well! We ate soft tacos and fruit salad and then had banana split pie for dessert--it doesn't get much better than that!

We're not leaving until 7:30am-ish tomorrow morning, but hopefully we can drive a little longer and a little farther tomorrow! Wish us luck and keep us in your prayers!

Is it "help" if you have to re-do it again?!

Have you seen a professional Lake family photograph any time recently? Probably not, as the last time we did it was before Dad's esophagus surgery when I was in 9th grade. After years (7!) of pestering Mom for family pictures, we go and get them done two days before I leave for grad school. Good timing, eh?!

After the photographs (our photographer was fantastic but completely crazy), Mom and I ran some errands while Dad and Scott went out to brunch. When we got home, what did we see? Dad got the U-haul. The original plan was to get it on Saturday, but my cousin Matt's graduation party coupled with my brother's lack of availability won over. Thus, instead of being able to pack the U-haul according to my check-off sheet (yes, I am extremely over-prepared and quite anal-retentive!), Dad and Scott had already done it! The only problem? Not all of my boxes were ready to be packed in the U-haul! Needless to say, a lot of un-packing needed to be done, but it was fantastic to not have to lift the two couches into the van!

From this point, all that is left is a bit of last minute packing (the essentials!) and a lot of family time! And of course, a lot of good thoughts and prayers for our safe trip. Wish us luck!

Love you all.

Less than two weeks to go!

With less than two weeks to go before the big move, I find myself getting exponentially more Facebook emails with people asking me where/when/why I'm leaving, and for how long. The people that I am closest to already know, but I have received a few emails from long-time friends who seemed oblivious to my move (you'd think they would know, but eh, everybody's busy with their own lives!). My last Tacoma trip will be Tuesday, to visit Liz, Sean, Clare, and the old 8th Floor Tingelstad ladies. I hope it's sunny so I can take some PLU pictures...

Other than that, it's been frantic trying to see everybody before I move--Harte, Jenna, and Julia (high school friends) are coming to my graduation/moving-away party on Saturday, and I went to a Mariners game with the Hicks family (plus Elise, who might as well be part of the Hicks family!) yesterday. I also have plans for lunch with Amy (Miss Poulsbo 2008!) and dinner with Courtney tomorrow!

Packing is going slowly, but surely. I just packed up my millions of PEZ today (three full under-the-bed tupperware containers!) and was surprised at how many I hadn't opened! I have two full ziplock bags full of PEZ, so if you need any, give me a holler!

I should probably go pack some more!

Moving time!

Moving to Texas on June 29th (that's less than two weeks, for all who are counting), taking a Uhaul with dad for a few days to drive down to Waco. Wish me luck!
