Engagement session: Sarah and Jeff

My good friend Sarah just got engaged to her long-time boyfriend Jeff earlier this summer. Their wedding is scheduled for January 4, 2013 in Houston, TX where both their families live. He proposed in this past June at the Waco zoo (the photo on their site is our recreation of said proposal), so they wanted to take some photos engagement-style. They may hire a real professional photographer at another time, but here's a few of my favorites:

I have this obsession with photographing people in front of doors, and I'm not sure why. I think it's because it adds a textured background without looking too busy.

This is the food shack at the zoo, but it was too perfect to not take a photo! The sign that says "Sarah and Jeff Jan. 4, 2013" is photoshopped. Total pro, right?!

The location where Jeff proposed: the nature trail. Sarah's ring is beautiful!

Jeff and Sarah

Although massively bright, I love this photo. (Shout-out to Pinterest where Sarah got the idea of heart hands!)

More pictures in front of doors!

All Jeff is missing is a tan WWII army hat! This is one of my favorite photos of the day.

Although a couple who frowns on PDA, I was able to convince them that kissing was okay! I love the way this rustic photograph turned out. (What you can't see is the aligator tank behind me. Sarah mentioned that I must smell bad because the aligator behind me moved, so I turned around to see and he scared the daylights out of me [and yes, there was a good 4 inches of plexiglass between us but that doesn't make an alligator moving toward me any less terrifying]!)

I love the framing of this shot, and the willingness for Jeff to spontaneously dip Sarah.

A little more traditional shot, for Sarah's mom (we have a few of these).

I asked Sarah to tell a joke to loosen up. Her choice: "Do I know any good sodium jokes? Naaaa."

Another Pinterest idea that turned out adorable.

We had a fun time walking around the zoo and snapping pictures. You can see all the photos on Sarah's Shutterfly site here. It was easy to take photos of such a fun, beautiful couple! ;)

Notice how I keep convincing good friends to be my models?! If you live in Waco and are friends with me, you'd better watch out or you'll be next!

Great photos! They look pretty professional to me :)

I've actually been to the Waco zoo so I know where the random shots were taken - kinda cool.
