15 Day Challenge, Day 2

Today's Day 2 of the 15 Day Challenge!

Prompt for Day 2: Share 30 interesting facts about yourself.

I'm so interesting that this may be rough to do (insert sarcasm here), but I'll give it a go! I mean, 30 things that are interesting? Well, I thought of a good 10 and then improvised the last 20. Enjoy!

{1} I have an insane love for grammar and punctuation, and I cannot stand when commas are misused. I love serial commas, semi-colons, and exclamation marks. The majority of my text messages are grammatically correct.

{2} Dumb jokes make me giggle like a little girl. I blame this on my father. Descartes was sitting at a bar. The bartender asked if he wanted a drink, and Descartes said, "I think not," and disappeared.

{3} Enough with this NKOTBSB tour bologna, if *N SYNC had a reunion tour, I'd go easily. And sing all the songs, do the choreography from the music videos, and scream my head of as if I was still 13 years old. (Confession: after I linked up the music video, I watched the whole thing and danced in my office. Don't judge.)

{4} I held a record at my junior high for number of sit-ups in a minute. I also held a 6th grade record with Lauren for "The Pacer," a task where you had to run across the gymn and get to other side before the paced beep. And I ran it in Doc Martens.

{5} A lot of times, I will do things on my own because if I asked others to do them, they wouldn't do it as thoroughly as I would. Apparently I have problems delegating.

{6} I don't recall ever having an imaginary friend, although I used to bend the tri-fold mirrors in our bathroom so that it looked like there were three of me, then talk to my triplet "sisters" Cheri and Stephanie.

{7} I used to sign my papers "Kelly Lake" in 1st and 2nd grade because I wanted to be like Kelly Kapowski from Saved by the Bell. My dad still thinks it's appropriate to sometimes call me Kelly as a joke [see fun Sar fact #2].

{8} I've ran two half-marathons, and am pretty sure that's all I'm ever going to do.

{9} I find it intimidating to rank things, as if I can never change them.

{10} I ate fish food when I was 7 because I thought it looked good. It wasn't.

{11} I cry in almost every television show, commerical, or movie that has any sort of emotional undertone. I'm borrowing Megan's term and calling it Compassion Eyes.

{12} I like to wear things I buy as soon as possible.

{13} I can't seem to shake Facebook or text messaging as my main modes of communication.

{14} I'll never forget my 3rd grade teacher who at the beginning of the year said that we couldn't have purple glue sticks (you know, the kind that turns clear). I had them, and I cried.

{15} I was terrified of my 4th grade teacher before I had her class. I had her for 5th grade, too.

{16} Both teachers from #14 and #15 came to my college graduation party and send me Christmas letters. Amazing women.

{17} I kick butt in Humdinger playing Cranium.

{18} I color-code basically everything in ROY-G-BIV order. Clothes in my closet, pens in their case, books on my office shelf, etc.

{19} Chloe plays fetch. She's a dog cat.

{20} I never thought it was a political ideal to love everybody fully and accept their differences in your heart. I'm still going to do it, regardless of what political beliefs you place on me after I tell you that I'm friends with dozens of homeless people ("my peeps"), many of whom have/had drug problems, are in state-funded programs, and have made bad choices. The love in my heart doesn't diminish in the slightest.

{21} When I write on a blank sheet of paper that doesn't have lines, I will print out a sheet of paper with lines on it that I made on Word. I like things straight.

{22} The one most common complaint I get from my students? Small writing on the board.

{23} The best compliment I've ever received from a student: a marriage proposal (times three).

{24} When I came to graduate school, I felt like I knew nothing. Now that I'm starting my fourth year, I know that I know nothing. I have occasional spurts of genius, but mostly, I just feel as if I'm driving on a highway of knowledge at 5mph.

{25} I could barely eat mild salsa before I moved to Texas. I constantly eat things that are far too spicy for me, hoping that my mouth will eventually get used to it.

{26} If you couldn't tell by all my Starbucks Sunday posts, I love coffee. A lot.

{27} I have two tattoos, a ladybug on my foot that I got with my mom in Portland, and three stars on the inside of my left wrist.

{28} Life could only be better if Nick and I were living in the PNW.

{29} I played softball all throughout adolescence and in high school (until I decided that it was more profitable to work in the athletic training room than pay to play softball). Although it was a blast, I don't miss having no free weekends or not having vacations without a tournament being involved. I played soccer throughout junior high and high school as well, but never played for the schools (I was terrified of the junior high coach, and cheer was a priority over soccer in high school). Our cheer squad won all competitions we entered while I was on the squad, and I learned how to tumble in the wrestling mat room of my high school during cheer practice.

{30} My favorite song of all time is the Isley Bros "This Old Heart of Mine." I could listen to it on repeat, all day long, and never get sick of it.

At last check, we had 16 people participating, which is 15 more than I anticipated! AWESOME. Make sure to link up if you're participating (and check out others' posts!). Even if you're doing the 15 Day Challenge on your own schedule (I know a few people were taken aback by the lack of notice prior to Day 1; I didn't realize anybody would want to participate with me!), we'd love to read it! Don't forget to grab a button:

I have problems delegating, too!

#13 is so true for me too...as much as I want to give up Facebook. Whatev.

#20 makes you an awesome person and I don't think that's a bad thing AT ALL!

#25 sounds like me...I have grown accustomed to spicy things, even though I live in Cleveland and there aren't a lot of spicy food choices around here. Oh well.

YEAH Cheerleading! WOO!

Also, I realize #1 has "with" when it should be "when." I also realize I misspelled "because." Serves me right for bragging about love for grammar, but I will point out I never said I'm good at spelling. ;) I'll fix it when I get to a computer (my phone won't let me edit).

YES to #28. And thanks for the Isley Brothers link; just hope Ed isn't bothered by my singing and dancing at 6:30 am.

I am soooooo behind you on #3!! Go NSYNC!

Also, I want to see your ladybug tattoo! I'm trying to convince my mom she should get one because her nickname has been Ladybug her whole life!

NSYNC forever! I would be jumping and screaming right there next to you. I saw them four times in concert.

I totally agree on the lines. If I have to write in a card I get something to make sure my writing is straight and neat. I cant stand it other wise.

You guys should check into playing on a co-ed softball team! We *love* it.

I used to pretend to not like N'Sync, Britney, Backstreet Boys or any mainstream pop bands in public. But I always secretly jumped for joy when I heard them, and now, I could care less!
Well, you've heard my iTunes selection. :)
Love this 15 day challenge, btw! Great idea!

1. Me too! Except I break them frequently when I do stream of consciousness blogging/emailing. Which, unfortunately, is all the time =\ Basically, I annoy myself.

2. I laughed.

5. I have this problem too.

6. I never had an imaginary friend but I did pretend my stuffed animals were real. For a long time. Like, middle school.

11. I really like that term, "Compassion Eyes". Digging it!

13. I feel like FB/texting were way more crucial before Twitter. Now I'm a tweeting addict.

14. WHY couldn't you have the purple kind?? TRAMATIC!!!!! Dislike.

18. I do that too!

20. I think those people need love and compassion more than anyone else in the world - and deserve it just as much as anyone else.

23. You're such a maneater ;) Haha

26. They need to make vitamin coffee, so we can be the healthiest most caffeinated people ever.

29. I failed to make the cheer squad. I'm slightly very jealous even though I know I would have been a cheer failure.

31. I made up this number just to apologize for the longest comment ever - that I just made longer by apologizing on. Oops!

I'm with you on #5. It's not that I can't delegate, it's just that I think I can do a better job of getting exactly what I want than anybody else can. Also, I'm with you on the text messages. I may not always use perfect grammar (I only have 160 spaces to work with, sometimes I have to cut out a comma to get my message to fit) but I will NOT shorten words, spell them incorrectly, or substitute an "s" for a "z" or "cks" for "x", it looks like you're an idiot. I cry at everything too, I have to walk out of the room if I know something sad or uncomfortable is coming up because I cannot stand to watch it. It hurts me.

3 - I would TOTALLY go to an N SYNC reunion show! Their shows have got to beat this NKOTBSB crap.
4 - I couldn't even do a pull up and still can't!
11 - I cry at everything. I love calling it Compassion Eyes. That music gets me every time.
26 - I need to go back and read more Starbucks Sunday posts. It's not that I have a coffee addiction, just a Starbucks addition.

Love this list, girl!
