Weekend fun

How was your three-day weekend? Hopefully you were able to take some time to relax! Nick and I spent the majority of Sunday and today at Starbucks, him working on homework/med school apps whereas I was grading and playing with some datasets. We're such Regulars that one of our favorite baristas, Lauren, gave us free cake balls. Mmm!

Every year that I've been in graduate school, my Aunt Heide (slash godmother) sends me a package for the start of school. Post-its, pens, and other love; it's amazing. I was talking to my mother about this and she mentioned that I should send Kayden a package every year as a fun aunt thing as well (Kayden is Sandra's son, who might as well be my nephew at this point). Nick came shopping with me and we had a blast.

We stumbled upon this glorious costume for a sweet baby girl: it's a cupcake. Complete with a sprinkle top and bright colored leg warmers! If this doesn't make you want to have a little baby girl, I don't know what will. (I sent it to Sandra and told her Ava needed it.)

We also headed to Wal-Mart to grab him some non-school toys (because you can only have so many Spiderman pencils) and Nick turned into a 6-year old at the Nerf aisle.
The cute part is, he's not even pretending. "What?! A dart holster? Why didn't they have this when I was a child! All the ammo you need!"

I also packaged up my first ever giveaway for Mrs. Ali! I even labeled them using paint chips as tags (thanks for the wonderful ideas, Pinterest!), so even though she's looking forward to the broadway CD the most, hopefully she'll start to love organizing as well. I mean, who doesn't love pens and planners?

(Another sidenote, I tried to convince Nick to let me buy Kayden a kiddie planner--it's never too early to learn how to prioritize--but he insisted that a first grader's priority is to have fun.)

What did you do with your long weekend?!

You guys are so fun :) That's a cute idea to do a first day of school package!! I may do that for my best friend's little boy when he's old enough. Oh goodness, I saw a similar costume on Pinterest today and I NEEEEED to get that for my niece next year...my sister bakes cupcakes and cake balls ALL the time, it's the perfect costume for her little girl! Gah!

I had the same reaction as Nick when I went to the NERF aisle last Christmas to get Jake's nephew a gun. We ended up getting a dart gun for Chayson and two for ourselves. NERF WAR!!!!

What a cute costume! I'm still trying to decide what costume to get my Little Bug. Luckily I still have some time yet!

And I always lose my husband to the toy aisle. Men are such little kids at heart, love it. :)

Oh my...a kiddie planner, I probably would have loved that as a first grader, but I was kind of a dork! Love the first day of school care package. I might have to do that next year for my nephew.

Stopping by from Mingle Monday!
