The parental units visited!

If you haven't been reading my blog for very long (or haven't been paying attention), my parents are my best friends.

Sadly, they live in Washington and I live in Texas (I bet you can guess who has the better deal). I get to see my parents about 3-4 times a year, which is not enough when you're as close as we are.

My parents decided to take a road trip to visit me two years ago (which was interrupted by some not-so-happy news), so now that they're retired bums, they thought they would try again and come say hi.

Due to their busy schedule visiting other family members, I got a little over 24 hours with them (they arrived around 6PM on Monday evening and we dropped them back at their RV on Tuesday evening a little after 8PM). I'll take any time, as long as I get a mom and dad hug!

Nick and I made dinner for mom and dad on Monday evening and chatted until far too late. On Tuesday, I picked them up at the RV park (Nick had to teach and go to class) and we wandered around all day looking at other potential RV parks, going shoe shopping for mom, and holding hands. It was glorious.

Then Tuesday evening, we drove to Waxahachie, TX (about halfway between Dallas and Waco) to meet up with Nick's mom so our parents could meet. We ate at a tasty Italian restaurant called Tuscan Slice, then went to Starbucks to chat some more after dinner was over.

We're clearly a very attractive family...

...most of the time.

You can tell where Nick got his dreamy eyes!

My fam, sans Scotty-Potty who didn't make the trip this time.

We got ready to take a funny face photo and my dad caught my mom and I trying to point at him to make him look silly! This was the result:

Needless to say, I loved being able to get some family time, albeit short family time! I'm feeling sick (all this week actually, but I pretended to be fine 'cuz I wanted to see my parents!) so I've been consuming plenty of liquids and Dayquil.

How has your week been?

So cute. My parents are my best friends too and I'm fortunate enough that we all live close to each other. My 5 year plan was to move to Atlanta in a few years; the very idea of it makes my bottom lip quiver because that's an 11 hour drive. That's way too far to be from my parents. I need parental hugs on the regular!

I LOVE this post... my parents are my best friends too! So fun, such a great example of how when times get tough you WORK on things, not run away... Looks like it was the best visit! :-)

Aww your family is great!! Mine is awesome too, My mom hasn't gotten to visit me yet, gas is expensive and if she has the gas and time (which is rare, she's a saint and volunteers for a million organizations on the weekends) she goes to visit my little niece. Who could blame her? I would like her to be able to come out at least once while we live here though.

Your mom wrote me a facebook message saying hello as they were driving through Utah. I was sad I could not say hello to both of your parents in person when they were passing through. I love your parents too! They are totally 100% awesome folks ;). One of my most memorable Thanksgiving dinners was at your house!
