Nick has been working 24/7 lately and I feel like I haven't seen him in forever! Okay, I'm exaggerating, but he's been working 12-hour shifts all week (12pm-12am; 2pm-2am; etc.) so I have got to see him a few minutes here or there. I keep telling myself this is good practice for when he's a doctor, but still, boo!

A local shop that does custom invitations just asked me to help make two sets of wedding invitations for a client of theirs. Totally random how they found me (my bestie Liz went in there with the prototype invitation I made for her and the shop owner liked it), but I'm kind of excited to play with graphic design and get paid for it. Don't get me wrong, I'd probably do it for free, but I'm totally psyched nonetheless.

I'm kicking butt on my dissertation prospectus. I've written 22 pages in the past four days of good, solid work. Total props to Paul Silvia whose scheduled writing time has changed my life. (If you're in a profession where writing is necessary but you procrastinate a ton, this is the book for you. He also wrote a great book for undergraduate psychology majors.)

Yesterday, my alma mater PLU announced their new president for next year, Dr. Thomas Krise. For those who don't know, PLU is a tiny (about 3500 students) liberal arts university in Tacoma, WA. We had the prior president (Dr. Anderson!) for 20 years, so this is a huge change for us. I'm really excited to see where Dr. Krise takes the university.

It's been snowing in my hometown and yesterday, it was 78º F in Texas. Today, it's supposed to make it up to 79º. All I have to say is: awesome.

Guys, it's March. March. Where in the heck did January and February go?! Spring break is the week following next, which is weird because I have no plans for the first time in four years (Dad, we should've planned another trip to Disneyworld!). I'll be housesitting at professor's place since their two golden retrievers are needy. It'll be a blast, as I get to live in their house for a week and a half, plus they live by a gorgeous park where I can go running. Lovin' it.
What are you thinking today? Link up and let us know!

So every time I read your blog (which is regularly and often and sometimes multiple reads on the same post), I feel like I'm reading my best friend's blog. I know that's probably such a creeper thing to say. But it's how I feel. I feel like you're the person who I'd text and be all "I'm freaking out about xyz and I just wanted to say hi" and you'd be all "here's what you should do + add coffee." Just saying-that was a lot of weird rambling. My bad.
Oh and ps-I took down my captcha thing-just for you. :)
I am JEALOUS of your weather. We had a snow/slush storm yesterday..it was gross.
We had snow yesterday and I liked it, but I'd ALSO love some Texas weather!
Ahhh, the weather is SO nice! I wish I could do my work outside - that would be amazing. As it is I plan on taking a long lunch and soaking up some sunshine!
I remember some weeks when my husband would be working 70+ hours - it totally stunk and I felt like I never saw him at all. I feel you! Enjoy the moments you do get together and know those long weeks won't be EVERY week :)
I can't believe it's March either! Craziness.
And God bless TX and its warmth!
I just want some sun around here!
I don't think I want to go back to Disneyworld,I wanna go someplace we haven't been before.
DADDY
Ugh, I hear ya! It never gets easier no matter how much time away you spend from your other half!
HOW FREAKIN AWESOME that you got asked to design!! I can totally relate to that excitement. I just had two consignment shops ask if I would like to sell my merchandise out of their stores..I'm so excited!
Oh PLU...when you talk about stuff from the PNW, makes me smile...and miss home! LOL!
I'm totally laughing out loud right now because after I posted my link up, I just saw that you and I both did the same emphasis on March! HAHA "March. MARCH" ;-)
[2] ..and you claim that you're not creative!
[3] WOW!
[4] News headline on KOMO radio this morning: "Pacific Lutheran University hires an Episcopalian."
[6] Almost a year since we visited you in Waco. Give those dogs a slobbery kiss from me.
yep trees are already budding w/ leaves here in tx. winter totally skipped us :(
That sounds like perfect weather! Ours has been insane lately. One day it's in the 30's, the next it's 60 out. I wish it'd just make up its mind already :)
