15 Day Challenge: Day 1

Guess what y'all?! Time for the first day of the 15 Day Challenge (hashtag #15daychallenge on Twitter)! Today's prompt:

[Day 1]: List 15 fun facts about yourself.

I tried to list things that I haven't already listed on my blog before, so it was tough!

[1] I can recite all the lyrics to at least six Eminem songs, but have been known to occasionally forget about Dre (my favorite is Real Slim Shady).

[2] I have an uncanny ability to hit on/pick up chicks, so I frequently act as a wingwoman for my guy friends.

[3] I just joined a dating website ('cuz it's friggin' hilarious, plus it's easier to blog about dates when they don't know your blog URL) and so far, I've had a guy ask me to impress him then list off 5 trivia questions I was supposed to answer, had someone else ask my IQ, had two men over the age of 45 express interest, had an email from a man named "BondageJoe," and gotten matched up with a hottie barista I used to have a distant crush on. Not even making these up, guys.

[4] The Olympic Trials make me bawl like a baby because you get to see someone realizing their dreams are coming true.

[5] Any time I'm feeling too sedentary or heavier than I should be, I watch Biggest Loser on Netflix for inspiration. I also really like Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition because Chris Powell is the most gracious man ever.

[6] I chose to go into research psychology/NSC instead of clinical practice because I have this horrible habit of getting too emotionally involved in others' stories. I don't think I would be able to efficiently cut myself off from clients' problems, and to be completely honest, I don't think I'd want to learn how to do that (I like my compassion!).

[7] I am extremely intimidated by people who are well-versed with the Bible. I feel like I'm seen as an inadequate Christian because I can't recite Bible verses or get jokes that require biblical knowledge.

[8] I kind of eat vegetarian. Let me be clear: I'm not a vegetarian; it's just difficult to cook meat for one person. I eat a lot of Morning Star and Boca 'cuz they're good and usually easier to prepare, plus vegetables are delicious!

[9] I didn't actually want a Twitter account, but a friend made me a screen name and "gifted" it to me. I joined because he clearly wanted me to see the tweeting light, but it's funny because I tweet more than him now (thanks, JHannah!).

[10] I still sleep with Melvin, the teddy bear I received from Jeremy Rude for Valentine's Day in 7th grade.

[11] I love all my blogger friends, but I secretly get excited when people I know IRL tell me they read my blog and just never comment (hi, Janelle!).

[12] I have a knack for being able to empathize with almost anybody in the whole world, as long as they're expressing their thoughts (similar to #6). Even though I have a huge mouth, I'm a great listener and find myself listening to others' problems simply because they open up to me.

[13] I suck at anything hair-related. I have three hair styles: straight, wavy/curly, and up in a ponytail (work that updo!). Don't expect anything different, 'cuz I'm not creative at all.

[14] I would take nonfiction books over fiction any day. Fiction books are pretty interesting and creative, but I think nonfiction is so intriguing and interesting that you can't not love learning!

[15] I have the most awesome family. Not just my mom, dad, and brother (who are all stellar), but my entire extended family is comprised of amazingness. Seriously. Be jealous.

So that's me! 15 Sar facts, written just for you. I kind of can't wait to read yours! If you're participating, make sure your blog URL is linked up below so that we can read your answers! Also, go stop by a new blog or two and get to know new blogger friends! And don't forget to grab a button (located on my sidebar--->).

The fact that you still sleep with a bear that Jeremy gave you in the 7th grade makes you even more awesome than you already were! =) Love it, Sar!

xox!

So fun to learn new things about you. Unfortunately I will not be participating. I've just got too much going on so blogging has to get pushed to the back seat. Have fun!

I met my fiance online (I had just moved to a new city for a job, knew no one, and was looking for some fun ways to get out of the house). Shh... What dating site did you join?

Love the facts! I didn't know a lot of these, even though I'm one of your IRL friends. :) I now want to hear you rap an Eminem song!

Suze said...

I know the lyrics to lots of Eminem songs too!

I also get a little sappy during the Olympics and Olympic trials.

I also LOVE when irl people read my blog.

And I totally suck at hair-related skills-

we have so much in common! :)

I couldn't help but smile when I read the Eminem fact. The Eminem Show gave me all kinds of life in high school. Online dating is fun too, I got quite a few laughs from the propositions I got on a regular basis before I met my boyfriend on OkCupid. Lol! I applaud you for recognizing your ability to connect with your clients on a more personal basis and not feel the need to give it up because that's what people expect. Great list girl! Love it!!

Love these and I just love your love for people and your compassionate nature, it's contagious! (how many times can I say love in one sentence? lol)

I also think we need a video of you rapping an Eminem song. Pronto.

This is great! I also fail at hair and just found out I'm responsible for my own hair for the wedding I'm in next weekend. Eek!

And yes. Video.

I'm not even American and I've been watching the Olympic trials - they are the best!! Almost as good or better than the actual Olympics - finding out they get to represent their country and the joy on their faces is amazing!

I love fiction and non-fiction equally. Sometimes I just need a good, made-up story to get lost in. And sometimes I just love to be challenged with new information.

Hooray for awesome family! Always makes life better!

Sorry about the poor hair skills, I think you got that from me! Have to agree with you about the Olympics. Love seeing dreams realized on the big stage!

1. Eminem is essential for daily life, and knowledge of intellectual conversations on mysogyny. Truth. You just have a one up on all conversations now :)

2. Your love of statistics makes me jealous that you weren't my TA, and that maybe I would have understood it if you had been.

3. Cooking for a single person is hard period. Adversely, cooking for multiple people who don't eat the same things, sucks too :)

4. I did online dating too. It introduced me to people I had already met and dated in real life. Holy moly out of controlly. No bueno. But think of the stories!

Have a coffee for me today! I hope TX is cooler than GA...we are chillaxin at 106.....ugh, my fat should literally be melting off at about now.

I can recite a TON of eminem songs myself! :) I love it ha.

I loved your list! :) It's super awesome learning more about people! Thanks for sponsoring this.

My favorite was that you still have the bear Jeremy gave you. If only he knew :) So sweet.

We have the same hair skills! I always get hair envy when I see other people doing cool stuff.

I def. can only put my hair in a ponytail while my sisters can do it all. Hahaha.

I sleep with my baby blanket and a stuffed pig every night. :)

I laughed when I read about Eminem. I also like some of his songs.

I am the same with my hair. I rock the messy bun.

Love your blog. Oh, and I too am an avid coffee drinker.

Loving to learn more about you!... How can you be such an awesome person and actually like math... I thought those things didn't mix up together! ;)
No. 7 ? I am right there with you ma friend! ...
I did also do 2 years of psychology, then switched to business and had done a year of law school before... I'm still trying to figure what I want to be when I grow up. Sadly I'm almost 30. :(

I'd be jealous of your family, but my family is so awesome too (ask Shauna! they're coming up in August and have already invited her to all of our dinners).

And I'm the complete opposite, fiction over non fiction. I can't get over the biases that may or may not be hiding in non fiction so I never really feel like I'm getting the whole truth.

Thanks for doing this! Hoping to get my blog back up and running after 15 days of self-imposed creative thinking :)

I hear bondage is in these days... But maybe he should have chosen the sn "MrGrey" instead haha.

I opted to go into industrial/org psych for the same reason despite clinical interesting me.

My biblical knowledge (read: lack thereof) makes me feel the same way!

I love twitter so much and I'm glad you're on it!

I have two hairstyles. Straight and ponytail. At least you have a third option! :) Haha

I have obviously been reading the wrong nonfiction books
