Online dating is, well,
kind of creepy (examples
here,
here,
here, and
here). I got this email yesterday:
"Hey there! I'm [John] I'm just browsing through Stop to check yours out, When can we start dating? I'm ready to find a true relationship. And you sound great!"
Ummmm, how do you nicely say "never"? Awkward...
Luckily, there are some success stories to online dating. I usually only blog about the not-so-good ones (
'cuz let's face it, a little bit of schadenfreude is hilarious), but I don't want you guys to get
too creeped out and hate the idea. Luckily,
Emily from
Dirt and Pearls has a fantastic online dating success story. She writes,
I met this guy on Match. We went out on our first date and had great time, so when he asked me out on a second date, I was thrilled. He took me out for my 29th birthday, where we went to hear a band play and then went to a piano bar. When we left the piano bar, we proceeded to walk to his car since I had met him downtown. Guess what happened? He lost his car!
He couldn't remember where he had parked. We rode around downtown in a cab for hours looking for his car and I was so irritated and tired and couldn't wait to get home. I found out that later the next day, he eventually found his car. I spent the majority of the night riding around in a cab on our second date and there was no way that I was going out with him again.
But, I did go out with "that guy" again. I have been married to "that guy" for 3 years and we have an adorable 2-year old son. On our 2nd wedding anniversary, he gave me the Tiffany's Taxi Cab charm for my Tiffany's charm bracelet. I thought it was the sweetest gift ever! Most people don't know that story, so it was kind of like an inside joke just between us. We are happily married and currently living in Kentucky!
See? Online dating is totally legit...even if your date accidentally loses his car on your second date. ;)

My sister-in-law is getting married to an awesome guy on Sunday. We love him so much :) All from Match.com! My husband'd cousin also met her husband on Match and they're awesome together and expecting their first baby.
I love hearing stories like that. I mean, the not-so-good are fun to share, and I LOVE reading those, but the success stories are really what it's all about! ;-)
Haha- that's a cute story! Uh, Emily's story, not the John email.
My [married] friends met online and so did my mother-in-law and her husband. While I think you have to use common sense, I think it's become way more mainstream and yeah- totally legit!
What a weirdo (the John guy).
Emily's story is so sweet! That makes a pretty cute "how we met" story.
Awwh you're too sweet to post my story!! :) My sister in law met her now serious boyfriend on Match and I know several other people who have met thru online dating!! It worked out VERY well for me :)
Cuuute! My brother in law met his wife on Match.com! They are happily married with one cutesy little baby! On the other side...sometimes online dating is just WEIRD. lol
Love!

haha that's great! I've heard a number of success stories and some not. A lady I know has a blog and writes about all the crazyness she finds, I die laughing all the time!
Oh Sar, you crack me up!
I know of a few success stories amongst my friends with online dating. It's definitely an "eerie" idea, but it works for some.
I don't think I would have ever had the guts! LOL!
Oh Sar.. I just blogged about this take a look. :)
oh man, this is my entire blog. i don't see anything wrong with online dating. it get's you out of your city and helps you meet people you wouldn't necessarily meet otherwise. i love it.

I"m getting married next saturday and we met on Match.com- I never thought I would have met my husband online, but it's a perfect match!
I love reading success stories like this! I am a huge advocate for online dating. I think it's such a great option for professionals/grad students. It's basically just like meeting someone at a coffee shop and they ask you out to dinner--it's not like you really know them at first right?
What a cute story!! Just found your blog from the Mingle With Us Blog hop. I'm your newest follower :)

Oh that is such a great story!!! :)
Thanks for sharing!

Nice one really liked it.

As for me i just hooked with a girl from globogirls.com. Site is not bad, lots of information on places to go even with some useful tips, video and audio chat. As for bad sides, girls take time to answer and they are not interrogative themselves.
