Missiko Hana Flat Iron Review

The great people at Missiko sent me a flat iron to review at the beginning of October, with instructions to take some time and get comfortable with it before officially reviewing. Play with a product you provided for me? Heck yes I will!

First off, Missiko specializes in salon-grade flat irons and hair dryers. They sent me the Hana Professional Salon flat iron, which has been rated the best flat iron of their store (and reviewed by Marie Claire, too!).

They also sent a few goodies (I did not take a picture of the creepy angel, but you can see it on Syndal's review).

And here is the Hana Salon flat iron (with silicone mat and leather pouch), along with a guide to using the temperature gauge on the flat iron.

And, since no flat iron review is complete without photos, here's a before-and-after using the straight iron (forgive my no-makeup-it's-6am-so-give-me-a-break look):

Firstly, I feel like I need to tell you that I loved my previous flat iron (Remington-something-or-other, I got it for $50 at Target). I've used a ton of flat irons from Chi to Conair, and I generally use them until they die [I know a ton of reviews always talk about their old flat iron and comparing it to the new flat iron, so I wanted to emphasize that I loved my previous straightener].

My Remington was great, although it would frequently get my hair caught in between where the ceramic plates would meet up with the plastic holder. When this happened, it did not feel good. So when I picked up the Hana to use, I was delightfully surprised at how nice and smooth it ran through my hair with no pulling or breakage.

It rained the first day I straightened my hair with Hana, and I still frizzed out like whoa which probably has more to do with my hair and less to do with the flat iron I used. I have noticed, however, that my hair stays straight the next day, even after sleeping on it (and don't tell Neely, but I only wash my hair every other day so this is key in a straightener for me). This is probably my favorite thing about the Hana that my Chi and Remington haven't done well. I recommend this straightener!

What type of flat iron do you use?

*I was given a product for review for this post, however all thoughts and opinions are my own, as usual.

Thanks for posting this! I got a new Chi last year and I'm so disappointed. I use my Chi's until they die, but this new line of them...they suck, really. After an hour and a half, my hair is still wavy. An hour and a half! I've been trying to find a new flat iron to try out, and I may have to look into this one. Being a mom to a toddler, I can't iron my hair daily so knowing it fares well overnight is a huge plus!

I use a Chi and I love it. I too wash my hair every other day. I would love to try the Hana to see if I like it better!

You are the second person I follow who is gotten one of these! I am dying to try it out! I've seen such great reviews on it and I need a new straightener like bad!!

Please find someone that wants to send products to me in Norway to test and review.

YAY! I love doing reviews - especially on hair products. Don't you ever feel silly straightening your hair when, for all intents and purposes, your hair is already straight!? BUT DOESN'T IT FEEL PERFECT WHEN YOUR HAIR IS STRAIGHT? Ugh, what a conundrum. I love it. Love you. Love your hair. You're gorgeous.

So awesome!! I just got the Hana blow-dryer in the mail and need to test it out and review too! :) Glad to hear you liked the flat iron!!

I have a cheapo flat iron that should have been tossed oh... a year ago?? Maybe more? Still have it. I know I need to upgrade but don't know which one to go for and it's hard for me to justify a huge expense when I've only ever known what a cheap one can do and it's gotten me by... you know??

So I have heard of this Neely girl and twice now someone has referenced her love of hair washing. I wrote a post a while back (lovingly) ripping on bloggers who brag about 2nd day, 3rd day, 835th day hair. Ha! So anyway. I need to find her blog post about it. I will probably laugh.

I use a Hot Tools straightener. I think it's on the spender side (it was a gift) but it has served me well the past 6 years. The cord is in rough shape, though. Not sure I want SHOCKINGLY straight hair so I should probably replace it.

What a fun review! :)
A good straightener is PRICELESS, man... especially when I'm taming the wildabeast on my noggin.

Would love to try the Hana to see how it compares to the Chi straight iron I use. Sounds like it is worth the cheddah'! ;-)

I am cracking up at all of the references to CHI since I used to work there. Especially the first one... the irons were the same ones as before! lol. They haven't changed at all recently.

Anyways, I love mine but I totally know what you mean about the Remington. I used that one for about 2 or 3 years and it pulled my hair too!

I have a crappy drugstore straightener...and it's like 2 or 3 inches wide. Which is nice because I have so much stinking hair, but not nice for trying to curl with a flat-iron. This one on the other hand, looks like you could probably use it both to straighten AND to curl!

haha that angel is SO weird, right?!
But I love that flat iron nonetheless :)

I just posted my review too--loved this flat iron! It's definitely my new fav over my Chi.

I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week! My hair is super thick and frizzy, but 2nd and 3rd day hair is the best. Currently I am using a Babyliss UStyler and it's great, but I'm always looking for the next best thing. Thanks for the tip!

I have the same Remington as you have/had and I like it, but my hair is SUPER fine so I think almost anything would work decently haha! I've heard a lot of good things about Missiko though!
