(A reference to my favorite YouTube video ever.)
I suck at coming up with facts about myself that others should find interesting. I mean, I think I'm pretty cool, but it's hard to gauge at what's entertaining to others! Here goes...
[1] In elementary school, I was in Girl Scouts with this girl named Cheri who was the most beautiful girl in all the land. She was gorgeous and sweet and had the lovliest name (plus I loved Franky Valli and the Four Seasons' Sherry Baby) and I wanted to be her so much that I "invented" a twin sister named Cheri (who was just a reflection in my parents' tri-fold mirror). Actually happened.
[2] Speaking of name changes, I was in love with Kelly Kapowski (the gorgeous cheerleader from Saved By the Bell) so I signed my 2nd grade papers "Kelly Lake." Apparently I thought changing your name automatically made you like the person whose name you loved. My dad still thinks this is an appropriate topic of conversation.
[3] My brother tells people I have a face tattoo, which is hilariously misleading. My right eyebrow is tattooed. There's a pretty large scar due to a head injury when I was younger, so my mom offered to let me get a tattoo (at age 15!). I've gotten it redone once, but I probably need to get it redone again. I hate the way the scar looks in pictures because my skin reflects with the flash. Or 'cuz I'm whiter than white.
[4] I met the man of my dreams online, using a free online dating website. Online dating started out a little sketchy (I wrote about my experiences, along with reader submissions, for four months) but ended fantastically. Best decision ever.
[5] I can safely (and appropriately!) use many power tools, hand paint a straight edged line, spackle, and DIY with the best of 'em. I owe thanks to my mom and dad, who taught me that it's silly to pay someone else to do things to your house when you can do it cheaper yourself.
[6] I wrote my college entrance essay about Buzz Lightyear. I got into all the schools I applied to, so I guess Buzz worked well for me!
[7] Speaking of writing, my undergraduate advisor (with whom I did a ton of research) once read a paper of mine and subsequently said, "Surely you don't want to go to graduate school and write all the time..." because he thought my paper was, um, less than stellar. I channeled that awesome advice and applied to research programs. Guess who's gonna get her PhD in 2013?! Sucka.
Apparently I'm stubborn and like to prove people wrong.
[8] I have zero fashion sense. I mean, I wear clothes from the same store (that I love) because I know they'll match, but I had to ask what a chambray was when Steph mentioned it once, and I didn't find out who Tory Burch was 'til Whitney and Bri took me into the store last year in Houston. (Sidenote, if y'all are paying $250 for flats, you're crazy.)

Ok, if you haven't seen Step Brothers you are going to despise my comment today.
"NO POWER TOOLS IN THE HOUSE, DALE!"
I did the name change thing when was 6 I crossed my name out on my backpack and put in Connie Chung lol
I would have never guessed you'd tattooed part of your eyebrow. Kudos to that person for a job well done. My mom has a huge scar going through her eyebrow too but she was never brave enough to get it tattooed so she fills it in everyday with pencil.
Online dating gets a bad wrap but with life being so hectic sometimes it's kinda needed in order to meet someone special. Glad you did! I met my husband back in the day of chat rooms; fun times haha.
I met my husband on Match! I was so scared to tell people about it at first, but now it's a great story and so much more accepted than it was 5 years ago!
This is hilarious. Especially Cheri and Kelly Kapowski. hahahaha. I'm 100% positive I have some stories like this but I must have blacked them out. I don't have such a great memory when it comes to things like this.
I feel the same way about DIY, too! Sometimes it's worth it to pay someone, but for a vast majority of things? heck no! Also? Sometimes the things I see that people paid money for on etsy makes me sad. hahaha. I once legit saw a hook with a sticker on it that said "woof" for a dog collar. Um, they sell those at Home Depot for like $2.
These facts were seriously entertaining!! The made up twin sister! Kelly Lake! I'm dying here. :) Thanks for a great start to my morning.
I loved Kelly Kapowski! It was a real shocker when Tiffany Thiessen starred on 90210 as the complete opposite of Kelly Kapowski. I felt a little betrayed...
...I watch entirely too much TV.
I would really like to hear how you incorporated Buzz Lightyear into your entrance essay. That sounds awesome!
I would have never known about eyebrow if you hadn't said anything.
I love how we both met our men via online. :). Best guys ever!! :)
I want to hear about the Buzz paper too. :)
ah I love online dating success stories. Makes me really want to try it hwen I'm back in the states
I have a scar in the middle of my eyebrow too!! Great idea getting it tattooed, mine just makes a nice big arch haha
My mind was just BLOWN with the whole eyebrow tattoo bit. I feel like it makes you such a bad ass. Not only do you have a face tattoo, but it's to cover up a scar. Bad. ass.
I have never heard of Chambray or Tory Burch until reading this post. Thank you for educating me!
Never heard of either of those things either, although I think it's silly to buy things just because it has a fancy designer name attached to it... plus, I usually think designer things are ugly. Probably means I'm not fashionable, but oh well.
OMG. Who invented chambray? It's denim. But put a cutesy name and it's all fancy and shiz. Please. Denim is denim is denim. Going to my grave believing this.
my favorite part for sure is about buzz light year. love it
I met my John on OKCupid, too!!!! Hahah! I also have a ton of bad online date stories, archived online in an old blog. The best part is that I am sure I convinced/inpsired *at least* four friends to do it and I'm going to two weddings in the next year from match. Ha!!
I love that I have a friend with a face tattoo. :)
I love to prove em wrong too! Get it, girl.
I HAVE SEEN SAR IN REAL LIFE AND NEVER NOTICED THE FACE TATTOO.
I feel jipped. Like we totally should have bonded over your face tat and my tit tat. Let's do this next time.
I made a reference to Kelly Kapowski in a tweet a couple weeks ago and a twitter account for Kelly favorited my tweet. When I got the email, I shit you not, I squeaked out loud with excitement.
I love Kelly.
New Follower!! Found you through this fun link up!! When you have time stop by.. → www.kjaggers.com← and if you like what you see.. follow back! Happy Tuesday! K Jaggers
haha your stories are awesome! I love the name thing. The fact about your eyebrow is amazing...that's a cool and unique fact for sure.
I wanted to change my name to Shea at one point because of this character in a movie that was a cool undercover FBI agent. =)
I wish online dating had gone as well for me but I've given up. :(
If I wasn't a blogger, I think I'd live in a fashion cave. I had never heard of half the current trends until they show up on friends` blogs!
That is so crazy that your eyebrow is tattooed! Awesome facts
i'm stopping by from the GFC blog hop, and i'm a new follower. I always liked Kelly Kapowski too :-)

You're so bad ass with your scar tat! :) And Buzz lightyear? Amaze balls.
I didn't know Tory Burch until Neely's posts.
I also told Stephanie when I bought a chambray shirt like last month. And my fashion forward sister lol. My sister happily tells me what to wear with it.
You're awesome <3
Looks great and different!!!

Well, Cheri is indeed a lovely name. Funny that you invented a twin sister with the same name!
When I was in fourth grade and my teacher would ask us to exchange papers to check objective type questions, many of us wrote: "Corrected by: Remington Steele" in the same way Pierce Brosnan signed his name in the tv show. I signed, "Laura Holt". :)
