Ready for this?
I just got a text from my good friend Carole asking me to help photograph her wedding.
Wedding photography. Me.
(Let's point out that I have never charged for a photoshoot because I have an entry level DSLR, a kit lens, and a 50. I don't even own a flash, y'all.)
Her good friend Brett is shooting the actual wedding (thank God, 'cuz I'd probably pee my pants if I was asked to do it all), but has to work that morning at his "real" job so he can't be there to take photos of the dressing/getting ready/obligatory group shots.
I expressed my nerves and Carole, lovely woman she is, said "I trust you, I wouldn't ask you if I didn't think you're awesome." Did I mention she's a photographer too?!
I'm excited. Terrified. Feel like I need to stalk a ton of wedding photos on Pinterest. And practice. Who wants to do a group photoshoot?
For those who are real photographers and actually shoot weddings, any advice?!

congrats girl!
rent some lenses so you'll have more options for day of and have fun!!! XO
All my stuff is entry level too and I turned down doing a wedding (on my own) cuz I was so scared too! I don't blame you at all, but you're further along than I am and I KNOW you'll be just fine. Also, flashes are a pain. I cannot get the hang of mine at all.
Woooo! That's fantastic news! You're going to do great. What a fun experience. Hopefully you'll share a few shots with us your readers?? ;) I love weddings.
Exciiiiiting! Congrats girlie!
Congrats girl! Yay!
That's awesome.. Congrats!
SO awesome! Weddings are so much fun to capture. :-)
I remember being so nervous when I shot my first wedding, but I had done a lot of research (Pinterest, other photographers, etc) and just took it one shot at a time.
I know there are a couple of websites where you can rent camera equipment (lenses, flashes) so you may want to look into that if you're worried about low light situations or if you want more flexibility when it comes to your lenses.
Most important, have fun with it all! :-) You're pictures are awesome, so I know you'll do great. :-)
That's amazing! I love getting opportunities from connections! You never know where your friends will take you!
Woo exciting!!!
Very exciting!! Congrats, good luck, and have FUN!!
Super exciting!!! I've had my dSLR for 2 years, and I still don't know how to use the damn thing. You go girl!!! Can't wait to see photos!
You're so freaking talented. You really are. You deserve this and you're going to do so well! And maybe you can start it as a side business (nothing big if you don't want - maybe just second shooting!) and it would be such a fun way to spend weekends! YAY! Congrats! Ps. When I read the title of this post I thought you were engaged and I got so excited haha
aahh! this is terrifyingly exciting! I'm sure you'll rock it!
Awesome news!! I can see why you are nervous (i would be!!) but I have total faith in you! And can't wait to see the pics!
Oh that's awesome!! I know you can rent lenses, but you may not need them for just the getting ready shots. I don't think our photog used a flash for those either. You'll do great!! :)
Weddings are such fun! Congrats on the gig, you'll do great! :) Always love reading your posts <3
I am not a pro at photography at all (I rarely edit my pictures) but I will say that you need to get rid of that kit lens. I bought a great lens on Amazon (it was actually gifted to me) and it's not expensive. I promise you that you will gain so much confidence with a new lens. If your camera is a Canon, here is the link for the cheap lens. It's a best seller on Amazon and I promise you won't be disappointed.

If you have a Nikon, I am sure there is a lens similar to this for your camera. Just do research and please don't shoot that wedding with a kit lens. You will be shocked at the difference in the images. I know I was.
1. You are going to do amazeballs. You have a natural talent with the camera that is going to absolutely do justice to her wedding day.
2. Did someone say group shot?! I believe we still have to schedule something with the family since we missed out last year!
Congrats!
That's great! Congrats!!
You'll be great :)
I was wondering why you were pinning all those wedding photography shtuffs earlier!
If you need group shot people- count us in! Unless its this weekend...then just count me in!
That's cool! Don't worry! It'll be awesome practice and I'm sure you will do great!
That's SO wonderful!!! Congratulations! I'm sure you'll do great, but I definitely encourage you to stalk pinterest and definitely practice, practice, practice! You'll be fine though!
How exciting!! I had a friend ask me to shoot her wedding, but I had to turn it down because I didn't think I could do it. But I know you are AMAZING! Your photography is awesome, so you'll be wonderfully!
